My watercolors are nature’s diary. They begin as a pencil drawing and slowly evolve into a chronological diary in pen and ink, completed under a magnifying glass, to eventually be painted in filmy layers of color built up one upon another until I’ve achieved the desired intensity. This procedure takes many weeks to over a month to complete.

I paint flowers with a personality of their own. If they don’t visually speak to me I won’t paint them. I never lack for perfect specimens. Beauty and personality is found in the true character of the bloom for a reason. Every dried edge of a bug bite is there for a reason and adds up to a sum total which makes an honest statement that goes way beyond the “perfect bloom.”

The most beautiful puzzle of nature lies buried in the reason behind her flaws and finding the hidden beauty within.
